In the opinion of Whatphone, the size of the screen is only one factor. We’ve included the type of screen here. Our experience is that :

  • Super AMOLED screens give the richest, deepest, most saturated colors – they’re great for videos and browsing. The Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC One X all have this type of screen.
  • The Super LCD screen on the HTC 1X can look slightly lighter and more washed out. They work better in direct sunlight.
  • The Retina display sits in the middle.I find it better than Super AMOLED in brighter sunlight but I prefer the contrast on Super AMOLED screens. On top of that, I think that, these days, the iPhone 4S screen is just to small. Way to small !
