Samsung Galaxy Note
You’re looking to figure out what phone is right for you. Let’s start with that. Is it a phone? Is it a tablet? Is it maybe what the marketing guys call a Phablet ?
What about none of the above ? After playing with the Samsung Galaxy Note for 48hrs, I reckon its a dud and I’m never going to pick it up again.
Samsung Galaxy Note – Historical Note
I have given it the benefit of the doubt. I owned one of the original P1000’s the first 7 inch Galaxy Tab. At the time it was a novel solution that was let down by the Gingerbread Operating System ( a previous version of Android – Gingerbread was version 2.3. )
In a similar way, the P1000 was not quite a phone / not quite a tablet. Maybe that’s why it fell through the cracks. The resulting mix didn’t seem to get much app support and Samsung never updated the version of Android.
For me I see this Galaxy Note is totally going down the same avenue as the original Galaxy Tab before it.
Samsung Galaxy Note – What About the Pen?
Its a joke, gimmick.. toy. Forget it. I can’t see any practical use for it.
The line drawn on the screen at the tip of the stylus isn’t ‘exact’ enough. It’s just not accurate to say that you’ll be using this to draw or take notes with.
Samsung Galaxy Note – Battery Life?
Battery life is fine but its not like you are going to use it for long.

Yep. I wouldn’t recommend the Galaxy Note to anyone.
Samsung Galaxy Note – Really?
Maybe I’ve been a bit harsh here. It would make a great media device for watching movies and TV shows.
But our job is to help you find what phone is right for you and for all the things that Samsung suggest it would be good for, I doubt the Galaxy Note would deliver.
I’ve got to give you my honest opinion so there you have it. By all means, keep it in the family : buy yourself a Galaxy Nexus and see what happens when Google make a real phone.
